Border Collies


The black colour is diluted and is now a greyish blue colour, beautifuly described by the British as "Slate". The same dilution can occur with the chocolate brown colour and is usually called lilac.

Blue shows the beautiful and quite rare blue/white colour. The colour is rather difficult to capture on film. By placing a black and white dog next to a blue/white one the colour is displayed more clearly.

This dog has the same coat colour as Blue (see above) has.

Violet (owner H. van Hassel, photo: F. Verhoef) is a blue/white tricolour; an unusual combination of the grey-blue colour with tan markings.
