The mating
On September 12th, we were informed that Wish had come in season. Half a year ago when she was in season the previous time we were planning on having her mated too, but Wish showed very clearly that she did not want to be bothered and she did not accept the stud dog (another one than we used now) at all. This is why we kept silent this time until the day of the ultrasound, to avoid making people happy for nothing again.
This time, it was clear that Wish felt much more at ease, and after several progesterone tests, we got the green light on 28 September to have her mated in 24 hours. Already for a week, we were stressed out because our preferred stud dog is living far away in Scotland and his owner has a life about as hectic and busy as ours. Luckily the dog's owner was so kind to travel south and meet us at a parking lot near Birmingham were the mating took place in the bushes. After that we returned to our respective homes; about 500 kilometers for her and about 800 kilometers for me.
The stud dog we choose for Wish this time is again descending from lines we admire already for many years, and is a perfect addition to the lines of our own dogs. Added to this an interesting drop of real English blood, and the fact he carries the oz red gene is the icing on the cake. So we present the perfect stud dog for Wish's second litter: Locheil Time Moves On. Based on the single mating, the expected birth date for both oz red/white and black/white, and maybe even blue/white and tricolour puppies is around December 1st 2005.
Ultrasound
On Thursday 27 October 2005 (day 28 counted from the mating) we took Wish to the vet for an ultrasound. We were delighted that immediately after shaving her belly and activating the ultrasound machine, we saw several amnional sacks filled with embryos. So no doubt about it, in 5 weeks we expect Wish's new pups.
